Meet Sprout
A Bull in a China Shop Who Also Loves Belly Rubs
Sprout isnt just an Australian Cattle Dog mix, hes a walking contradiction in the best way. Hes the smartest dog in the room and the goofiest. Hes got working-dog energy and couch-dog cuddles.
Hes chaos and comfort. Basically, hes everything you'd expect from a heeler plus a little extra love mixed in (Love = bully breed)
Sprout came into rescue on July 14, 2024 after being found at
an all-night softball tournament in rural Central Valley. Covered in ticks and barely a year old. Since his intake, Sprout has shown he is the perfect companion for someone who loves adventure, purpose, play, and partnership. Sprout gets along with female dogs and SOME males, if introduced properly. He is vocal in play, and 55 pounds of drive, joy, and potential. Hes altered, crate trained, and house trained, in his current environment.
Sprout needs structure, routine, regular physical and mental exercise . You could even invent his own job and he’d be happy to play along.
He’s brilliant, snuggly, water-obsessed, and always ready to learn. That said, Sprout not for the unprepared or under-committed. He needs someone who understands (or is excited to learn about)
heelers, working-dog brains, and how to channel chaos into excellence.
Things to know:
- Not good with cats.
- Kid-friendly (if the kids know not to out-heeler the heeler).
- Fireworks and loud noises? Not a fan.
- Loves water, tug, toys, massages, and being told hes a good boy.
- Dog-sociality is selective
Ideal home:
- Breed-savvy or breed-curious human with time and energy.
- Structure, routine, a fenced yard, and mental stimulation.
- Someone who doesn't just put up with dog quirks but *thrives* in the joy of helping a dog meet his potential.
Sprouts not a blank slate. Hes a blueprint. And if you know how to read it or are willing to learn, he'll build something unforgettable with you.
