Meet Gertrude aka Trudy

The Dog You'll Think About at 2 A.M. Until You Do Something About It

If the WORST thing after being hit by a car is hind end paralysis, I’d say she’s a miracle. Trudy isnt a dog you just adopt. She’s a dog you become better for.

Gertrude’s rehab has been 100% done at home for the length of time she has been in FART’s care. No underwater treadmills. No gold-star vet packages. Just love, consistency, and creativity Now? Her body is catching up to what her soul has known all along that she's meant to move forward.. And she’s doing that by taking steps.

Literal steps.

She’s all dog & cat-friendly. While she can be good with kids, she *will* get excited and

gremlin-nip if things get too overstimulating. You’ve been warned (and also charmed).

Her adopter will need to continue her healing journey,  Physically and emotionally. Trudy is TERRIFIED of traveling in vehicles (dont blame her) BUT she is adaptable and can overcome hard things with the right approach.. She is otherwise incredibly  tolerant of a hoomans life.  Her adopters will  need to be curious, open, and willing to learn new modalities when bringing Trudy into their life.

FART will be behind you every step of the way with learning how to care for a disabled doggo. (it’s not as scary as it seems!) FART will personally transport her, teaching you how to expressher bladder and bowels and cheering you on like the proudest stage mom in the world.

Here's what else you should know:

- Trudy connects with people in a way thats hard to explain. She feels deeply.

- She has a routine, she has needs that are beyond a “typical” K9 companion

- Her perfect person will understand that healing isn't just physical and see Trudy not as a  pity case but a powerhouse with a spinal injury.

Trudy is TOUGH. She is rare. Not in the unicorn way… shes rarer… (yes, thats a word)

She is worth it.
